Over the years, family, friends and even web viewers whom I’ve never met have sent photos and rubbings of manhole covers and water covers from the USA and around the world. Some of their photos and rubbings have already inspired sculpture relief works that are shown in my gallery. Rubbings are saved in huge flat file drawers. Printed photos are stored in ten different albums by type of cover and location. The convenient digital photos are stored in computer files. All of the contributions are truly appreciated.
Recent contributions include: Pasedena Cover in Houston TX from Peter Johnson, new to my web site, The Freedom Trail Cover in front of Paul Revere’s House: Boston, Massachusetts photographed by Hal and Rosalie Placet, Solivita Friends and A Norway Cover taken by Kathy & Mel Wheeler on their many travels. Kathy and I are members of a Solivita Book Club called “A Novel Group.”

Bravo Bobbi
I share your enthusiasm for the humble manhole cover, and take photos when I travel. I have printed my favourites onto canvas and mounted them on the wall of our lounge room. They look 3-D and arouse a lot of interest, but I would love to see your work one day.
I would like to share with you some photos from my current tour of Central Europe, where I have developed an appreciation for the history of the manhole cover (I hope this link works).

Next week I will be visiting an exhibition of the International Museum of Manhole Covers, in Farrara, Italy, before returning home to Australia.
Ciao
