Bobbi Mastrangelo’s water cover art relief: “The Sidewalk Was Paved in Gold,” is being exhibited at The Gwinnett Environ- mental & Heritage Center in Buford Georgia from April 3 – 28, 2010. Bobbi was one of 23 artists from 11 states in the USA selected for “Water S(our)ce,” an exhibition celebrating water as a precious resource.
The exhibition recognizes that water has always been and will always be a fundamental source of inspiration to artists and hopes to stimulate artistic consideration of our collective shifting perceptions about water.

“The Sidewalk Was Paved in Gold” is a mixed media sculpture relief. The water valve cover is made from cast paper and cheesecloth. Pavers surrounding it are constructed from hand made papers molded over beveled foam core. Florida bamboo was used for the hand made frame. A gilded finish alludes to our most precious resource: water.
The water valve paper casting is a detail from Mastrangelo’s fiber relief. More information about this art work can be found on the blog: Grate Thoughts » Blog Archive » Bobbi Mastrangelo’s Work in Jan/Feb 2010 Fiber Arts Magazine
