Seattle Tribute Creation

Because I was inspired  by being the complimentary exhibitor at the History Museum for  the “Plastics Unwrapped” exhibition loaned fromThe Burke Museum of Seattle, I decided to create a relief sculpture based on the Water Ring  Cover on Seattle Streets. Manhole covers are in the public domain.  It is rare to know who designed  the cover,
I was delighted to discover hat the original gray iron sewer cover, “Water Ring,” was designed by Puget Sound-based artist Betsy Best-Spadaro in 2001.  It depicts women, fish, orcas and a whale swimming in a circle around the central legend of “Sewer.
